Rainbow bird

So - I saw this bird and just had to give it a try...  

Not perfect, but pretty close...

white tulips

had a moment of inspiration today, and hurried and painted while I had a moment.  I tried kind of the outlined technique, but I'm not really happy with how it turned out.  They kind of look black or brown instead of white... sigh.  Oh well...  onward and upward, right?  :)

Spring Tulips

Well...it's been a while since anyone posted, and I was feeling totally captured by these tulips in one of my teachers classrooms today, so I figured it would be a good one to do a 30 min paint for...  Here's the tulips

Aren't they a fun color??  I just think they are wonderful.  They're fake - they're silk, but you wouldn't really know it unless you were touching them.  Here's my work up...

I think it turned out pretty good - not the best photograph (my cell phone doesn't take the best - argh) and not the best editing, but there ya go with 30 minutes and it's my bed time now...

violet for spring

Well, I decided I had to paint the flowers in my wallpaper, and it's an amazing purple group.  I'm painting it to give to some friends and decided it worked for a 30 minute paint.  It's only about 2x4, but it was fun.

Wedding gift for Heather

Well..  I decided I needed to paint some tulips for Heather's wedding.  Thing is, my tulips aren't blooming yet, so I had to find some online...  These were the only ones I could think to work with...

And here's what I came up with for 30 minutes....

got a little carried away, and don't have the best light today, but oh well.  My hubby will be impressed, I didn't toss it out the window.  :)   (I don't usually like the first version of something.)  I have to say I'd rather do another one, but hey, if she doesn't like it, then say-la-vie, right?

Cherry blossoms...

It's been a while and I realized I'd done a painting that would work... not sure if this took 30 minutes or more...but it was semi quick take on the photograph I'd taken.

A New Brush...

Well, so I realized the other day that it's been AGES since I tried doing a speed paint for this, and I just got a new brush and had to try it out.  I was also trying a new marker that I purchased, and used it to outline instead of ink.  I'm thinking I like ink better, but it turned out okay.  So, flowers for my inspiration were these...

and here's the painting.  I don't think it even took 30 minutes, I was using my small block pad.

I like the brush...don't think I like the marker, and I really need to find some better watercolors...

Something new...

This was an idea I had the other day.  I spotted some clouds...

that I thought looked like dolphins!  Here's two attempts...one is outlined in marker, one in paint.

hard to say.  I painted the bottom one first, before I could find the photo and do it closer to reality...  my daughter says the bottom one (which is marker outlined) is better...sigh.

It didn't take long to do either one - definitely under 30 minutes.

then there was another cloud...

swear it looks like a dragon!  Unfortunately I don't think my first attempt has quite done it...

oh well...back to the drawing board...or er easel...lol

A Painting Day...

Well...Have been wanting to paint this one for a long time.  Not sure if it was 30 min, but pretty close.  

Not too bad...  lol.

Wow, it's been awhile...but as always, this is a great exercise. I definitely needed a bit of a warm up before a crazy project I'm taking on tonight, and this was perfect. A little trip to Neverland...Hangman's Tree, to be precise. I probably took an extra 5-10 minutes finishing up, so we'll call it a 45 minute speed paint.

Another Flower Set

We went to Alaska on a cruise several years ago, and I took loads of photos of the flowers.

This was the painting I entered in the fair the next year.  ;)

Yes, it only took about 30 minutes.

Now that I see them together, it wasn't much of a match, lol.  But it was still fun.  ;)

Well...here's my first attempt.  I haven't had time to really attempt the 30 min deadline, so I appologize, lol.  But here's the original photograph (tulips from my yard)...
