Another Flower Set

We went to Alaska on a cruise several years ago, and I took loads of photos of the flowers.

This was the painting I entered in the fair the next year.  ;)
Yes, it only took about 30 minutes.

Now that I see them together, it wasn't much of a match, lol.  But it was still fun.  ;)

First attempt...'s my first attempt.  I haven't had time to really attempt the 30 min deadline, so I appologize, lol.  But here's the original photograph (tulips from my yard)...
and here's my watercolor of it...

I guess we'll see how time progresses, right?  ;)

Some color issues...One pic was on one screen, the other on my cintiq...funny the discrepancy!

I love this picture because it reminds me of the Vulgarian Vulture.

6-12-14 (girl painting)

I could have spent HOURS on this one.  Very good practice though...especially for learning about lighting!

I want to paint more.  This is the start of that resolve.

(I just looked at this small and noticed the white of the shirt and the grey of the BG are switched.  oops)

This is the first portrait that i have done that bears a resemblance to the person that I was painting.  I didn't actually time myself with this so i might have been a little longer than 30 min, but i am happy with the exercise.

I would like to do more over the next month.

First Speed "Paint" - Debra (21 Jun. '13)

What I learned:
Colored Pencil is a completely different beast than Digital Painting
Things that look simple aren't
It got better when I stopped trying to make it perfect
The important part should be the feel, not making it exactly like the original
Deviation really is ok.

Drawing with your potty-training toddler around makes it take longer, but at least the baby was taking a nap.  :D
