Red Scarf (11)

Another speedpaint! I am excited about being able to do these things again. Now that school is done I have more time for speed painting!

First "speed paint" I have ever done.  Original is from Andreas Rocha.  It took about 40 min (oops) but it was fun to do.  And i learned that I have a LOT more to learn about color and painting.

Happy Valley (3-24-13)

Feeling inspired by the new posts!  Here's one of Happy Valley, from Mickey and the Beanstalk. (Myyyyyy what a lovely daaaaaay)

When I went to BYU, it was referred to as "Happy Valley" because everyone there was so darn smiley.  It was a pretty happy place to live :)

30 minute Speed paint (Borderlands 2)

I thought I could paint this whole in 30. Huge mistake. The body took 30 minutes and the guns took another 30 minutes.Had fun non the less.

Piece of a Painting by Daniel Rigdeway Knight

I've been working on an illustration that I want to be overcast so I decided to practice. This is a piece of a painting by Daniel Ridgeway Knight called the Shepherdess.

I tried a bigger piece the other day and failed miserably. This one I mostly focused on the sky and landscape and not so much on the sheep. So don't look at that part. (ha ha I know you just did.) Anyway it looks like I even got the sky too dark. Guess I'm smarter now and maybe I'll get better at pacing myself as I do more of these.

Lady in the Rain

Here's my first go at a speed painting... It turned out better than expected.

1-3-13 (Blue dress detail)

I can see now I made mine too light.  Value has been my continual weakness!  But I'm working at it.

And:  My deepest apologies for being on hiatus for the last few months.  I got a second job at Disney Interactive (yay!) and found out I had a couple of tumors (boo!) and things got shaken up for a while.  But I'm ready for the new year, and will be posting much more regularly now!  Thanks everybody for being a part of this blog.  I...I...I think I love you...

For this one, I used Corel Painter, no layers, sharp chalk(brush), and the papers palette was set on basic paper, scale 105%, contrast 113%, and brightness 51%. I thought it looked cool, like the Finding Nemo colors scripts. I wish I had two monitors :( This would be a lot easier.

2 September 2012 - Yoda

I didn't use any reference to sketch out my Yoda or to do the colors, but this picture is nearly exactly what I had in mind when sketching him.  Sketching took about 20 minutes and painting about another 10-ish.  Total time: 30-ish minutes.  Cheers!
